The fur of the red squirrel is actually red.   (In shady conditions, the fur may look brown or dull red.) The squirrel also has a distinguishing circle of white around each eye.

Red squirrels often sit with their front paws folded across their chests.   It does make them look cute but this one was pondering how to get to the birdfeeder.
